Temple Landing
Temple Landing is a 173-unit family housing development located five blocks west of City Hall in downtown New Bedford.
In 2007, the property was at risk of financial insolvency. POAH was approached by the property’s owner and original developer about partnering to save the housing then called United Front Homes.
POAH brokered an arrangement with the City of New Bedford, Mass Housing, and the ownership’s general partner Apartment Investment and Management Company/AIMCO, to purchase the property and allow POAH sufficient time and resources to stabilize operations and assemble the financial resources required to reposition the property.
POAH partnered with UFDC to develop a transformative redevelopment plan which combined physical revitalization of the property and a new approach to operations. The strategic reconfiguration of the site included the addition of new city streets, rehabilitation of some existing units, selective demolition of others, and construction of new townhouse units.
POAH’s revitalization of the property has transformed this critical affordable housing asset into an appealing, sustainable and healthy family development renamed Temple Landing in March, 2011.
