A Mashpee Enterprise story
In a true show of community collaboration, state and local representatives joined with honored guest Mary J. LeClair for the groundbreaking ceremony Wednesday morning, May 31, at LeClair Village Apartments. The three-building complex at 950 Falmouth Road/Route 28 will house 39 families.
The village was named in honor of Ms. LeClair for her years of dedication to housing and other community causes.
Upon completion next summer, the apartments, which are on town-owned land, will serve low- and moderate-income households. The complex has been a collaborative eight-year effort between the town and local nonprofits, Preservation of Affordable Housing (POAH) and Housing Assistance Corporation (HAC), with which Ms. LeClair has worked closely.
“Today is cause for celebration, as we recognize the decades of service Mary LeClair has done on behalf of the people of Cape Cod, but it is also a reminder that much work remains to be done to achieve her goal and ours of every family and individual on Cape Cod having a safe and stable place to live,” Alisa Magnotta, HAC’s chief executive officer, said during the ceremony.
