Maria Plati is POAH's Senior Director of Communications, working to raise the organization's public profile through marketing, media relations and public relations. She produces POAH’s print and electronic communications and oversees the digital media operations including five websites and social media.
She provides communications support to POAH’s property management company, working with leadership, regional supervisors and property managers.
Maria worked as communications director for the Episcopal Diocese of Massachusetts, as chief of policy and communications for the City of Newton, MA and as a staff communications consultant at the Massachusetts Teachers Association.
As a lobbyist for the Community Action Programs of Massachusetts, she helped secure increased funding and legislation related to low-income housing and income support programs. She holds a master’s degree in Public Administration from the Harvard University Kennedy School and a bachelor’s degree in journalism from the University of Maryland. She worked as a journalist in Rome, Italy under a Rotary International Journalism Fellowship and was a legislative assistant in the Congress. She is active with the Harvard Alumni in Real Estate Organization, Boston Chapter.
