Cheryl Morrison-Brewton moved into Heritage Village in May of 2020 and immediately beginning volunteering to help her neighbors and site staff in light of the pandemic’s effects on residents. She secured food donations to residents in need and in the winter, cleared snow for neighbors with mobility challenges.
Before coming to Heritage Village, Cheryl was an active volunteer as a community outreach worker at Alder Bridge Community Nursing Home. When the COVID-19 pandemic hit, Cheryl coordinated and organized a drive-by donation of socks and blankets to help the residents of Alder Bridge. Throughout the pandemic, Cheryl brought lunch to the local Dollar Tree employees in North Kingstown because she viewed them as front-line workers and wanted to show her appreciation for their commitment to our community.
In 2020, Cheryl joined the foster grandparent program and worked at Waddington School in East Providence as a first-grade classroom teacher assistant. She loved being in the classroom, helping the children learn and grow and couldn’t wait to get back into classrooms for in-person classes. She also volunteers in the foster grandparent program and in the North Kingstown community, passing out Kindness Baskets to business effected by COVID-19 and working with a local church Clothing Closet.
Cheryl is a natural and active volunteer and her many skills and gifts are appreciated both by her neighbors at the Aaron Briggs Apartments and residents in North Kingstown. It is individuals like Cheryl who make a community and we are proud to know her and work with her.
