OVER-THE-RHINE, Ohio (WKRC) - The United States Department of Housing and Urban Development announced nearly $67 million in new grant and loan awards for 12 properties under its green and resilient retrofit program.

More than two million of that is coming to Over-The-Rhine to improve two multi-unit buildings.

Preservation of Affordable Housing, Inc. Midwest Region Real Estate Development Senior Vice President Bill Eager said it's critical to maintain existing affordable housing.

"If you're not preserving what's already there, then, you know, you're losing, right? Then, you're losing ground. So, you know, whatever new construction is going on, that's really good," Eager said.

Eager said he considers saving the existing affordable housing the non-profit’s mission.

“We consider ourselves a mission driven developer, right? That's the mission. Preserving as much affordable housing as we possibly can,” Eager said.
