Description

Fred C. Mathews III Senior Housing is one of six properties acquired by POAH from the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago in 2019. This acquisition expanded POAH’s footprint in Chicago into three new communities plus the suburb of Harvey, and preserved 461 affordable apartments for low-income seniors for many years to come. 

This 60-unit complex is located on the South Side of Chicago in the Grand Boulevard neighborhood.

Jesse Jackson Jr. Senior Housing

Jesse Jackson Jr Senior Housing, acquired by POAH from the YMCA of Metro Chicago in 2019, provide  a vital source of quality affordable senior housing in a community that has seen more than its share of disinvestment over the past decades. The properties are located on the former Dixie Square Mall Site – made famous by the Blues Brothers movie in 1980 – in Chicago’s south suburbs and just off two major expressways

Martin Farrell House

Description

Martin Farrell House is a 59-unit elevator midrise built in 1990 for elderly and disabled residents in East Woodlawn.

This acquisition by POAH in Chicago follows more than ten years of work creating a new, vibrant, healthy and attractive mixed-use/mixed-income community in the Woodlawn community, just south of the University of Chicago.

Walnut Grove Apartments

Description

Walnut Grove Apartments is a 176-unit family development located in Blacklick, Ohio, a small unincorporated community on the northeastern portion of the Columbus Metropolitan area.  POAH purchased the property from the National Church Residences (NCR)

It consists of 50 one- and two-story single-family homes and 17 townhouse buildings containing 126 units. The development contains 64 two-bedroom, 62 three-bedroom and 50 four-bedroom units. The property sits on 10.5 acres on a 15 + acre campus shared by two other properties owned by NCR.

South Suburban Senior Housing is one of six properties acquired by POAH from the YMCA of Metropolitan Chicago in 2019. This acquisition expanded POAH’s footprint in Chicago into three new communities plus the suburb of Harvey, and preserved 461 affordable apartments for low-income seniors for many years to come.

South Suburban first opened its doors to seniors and disabled residents in 1946 with 50 one-bedroom apartments and added another 70 units in 1982.

Corcoran Place Apartments

Description

The 94 apartments at 325 and 345 North Austin Blvd. were acquired as part of a transaction in which POAH purchased two affordable housing developments - in the Austin neighborhood of Chicago and the City of Elgin, 35 miles northwest of the city. 

The apartments are covered by a Section 8 Housing Assistance Program (HAP) contract that preserves affordability. The acquisition expanded POAH’s footprint in and around Chicago in 2019 to nearly 1,700 apartments the nonprofit developed or purchased in the state since 2008.
